It’s time to get into the spirit of Halloween and prepare to decorate our houses for spooky fun and games. This week I’m looking at Halloween style decor and how you can incorporate Halloween chic into your home as a more permanent feature.
Dark and Dramatic
One source of inspiration for a Halloween themed home is the amazing home of Queen of Darkness Pati Robins.

Pati is a DIY Blogger who has transformed her home into a dark and dramatic treasure trove. Her bold home design features an eclectic collection of contemporary artworks and fascinating objet d’art alongside rustic industrial furniture all contained within dark walls. Pati’s home perfectly illustrates how to combine a touch of gothic, a hint of baroque and few colour pops in the right places to create dramatic decor with a hint of the dark side that looks great all year round.
Dark, dramatic decor has been trending in interiors for the past year or two. Dark walls, jewel tones and plush velvets are all very grown-up and sophisticated design schemes. If you're keen to add some year-round Halloween glamour to your home read on for inspiration.
Simple Monochrome
Black is the obvious choice for adding a supernatural element to your decor. Black is a powerful colour associated mystery and fear. It can also be formal and elegant. Adding layers of black through patterns and textures in furniture, wall coverings and accessories is one way to add a touch of gothic glamour.

Starting with stark white walls a black console table and velvet chair add a touch of gothic glamour in this simple monochrome scheme.

Adding another layer of interest with more monochrome pattern. The wintery themed trees wallpaper is a perfect background for these gothic styled pieces.

A more traditional damask style wallpaper paired with a deep velvet chair and black lacquered furniture hints at vintage opulent style.

Layering black on black with an even darker wallpaper. The addition of a cow hide rug adds a rustic element to this opulent scheme.
Rustic Decorative Touches

Moody dark walls are a perfect backdrop for these decorative skulls. The mixture of tones and textures on the walls such as the reptile effect wallpaper helps to set the mood.

It doesn't have to be dark! Rustic industrial touches from the distressed wooden wall covering and the industrial style furniture alongside the skull art give an eerie edge to this living room.

Use lighting to set the mood in your home. A stand out pendant light like this industrial style spider light along with the rustic cladding on the walls is a talking point in this contemporary styled living room.
