Well it feels like summer is finally here and whilst I don’t want to speak too soon, so far this year we really have been spoilt with the weather.
Get your home sunshine ready for the summer holidays with these tips to bring some style to your summer living.
Spring cleaning for Summer
The first one is to throw open the windows and have a good old clear out. It won’t cost you anything and your home will feel a lot fresher and brighter. If like me you have young children at home, these last few days before the end of school are a great opportunity to get things in order before the holidays begin. From then on I can pretty much guarantee my home won’t be tidy again until September!
A Summer Swapover!
Easy to change accessories such as cushions, throws and bedding are great way to bring the colours of Summer into your home.
Bedding - If you haven’t already switch to summer duvets with a lower tog rating. Heavy thread count linens feel luxurious but they can trap air and heat beneath them. Choose bedding with a thread count of 300 or lower in light colours to reflect and not absorb the heat coming into you room in the day.
For cushions and throws a quick summer refresh is easily done. New cushions or cushion covers in bright summer colours, floral's, botanical's or tropical colours all add a summer feel to your home.
Changing Tables
Changing your tableware is another way to get summery at home. Go botanical Nothing says summer like adding a bit of floral or tropical pattern to your table to bring a holiday feeling to meal times. Adding a table runner or table cloth can really cheer up a table when you’re entertaining - and don’t forget the flower arrangements and plants

Bring the outdoors in
Speaking of flowers and plants. Now is the time to fill your home with greenery. If you’re lucky enough to have a garden in full bloom, for the next few months, you’ll have an endless supply of flowers for your home. If not then buy flowering houseplants such as begonias, miniature roses, orchids and kalanchoes that are in season at the moment. They last longer than flower arrangements and are easy to look after. Take inspiration from my last blog which features some homes with amazing plant collections.
